Serialized storytelling has been my obsession since I was a kid glued to the television. Writing for Guiding Light wasn't just a job. It was the dream, and I got to do it alongside writers I had long admired.
But it was The Young and the Restless, under headwriter Lynn Marie Latham, where I learned what I still believe: you don't bend characters to serve the story. You let the characters create it. Everything follows from that.
I took the executive producer chair at The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, worked multiple seasons of The Real Housewives of Orange County, and produced reunion specials for Beverly Hills and Dallas. The format changes. The instinct doesn't.
Microdramas are the work now: vertical, fast, every episode ending somewhere you can't walk away from. It's the closest thing to the daytime discipline I've seen since I left it. I've developed one, a reimagining of a well-known IP.
Outside of television, I write fiction.
